CasePilot Returns

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected and used when you visit the CasePilot Returns website or join the CasePilot Returns beta waitlist.

CasePilot Returns is currently operated by Marc Alzapiedi (“CasePilot Returns”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

For questions about this Privacy Policy or your personal data, you can contact:

Email: marcalzapiedi@gmail.com

1. Who is responsible for your personal data?

For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”), Marc Alzapiedi, operating CasePilot Returns, is the data controller for the personal data described in this Privacy Policy.

This means that we determine why and how personal data submitted through the CasePilot Returns website is used.

2. What information do we collect?

When you voluntarily join the CasePilot Returns beta waitlist, we collect:

  • your name; and
  • your email address.

We may also receive limited technical information that is normally generated when you visit a website, such as IP address, browser information, device information, and information necessary for the security and operation of the website.

We do not intentionally request sensitive personal data through the beta waitlist.

3. Why do we collect your information?

Information submitted through the beta waitlist is used for the following purposes:

Managing the beta waitlist

We use your information to record that you have requested access to or expressed interest in the CasePilot Returns beta.

Evaluating interest in CasePilot Returns

We use waitlist registrations to understand whether there is sufficient interest in the CasePilot Returns concept and to help evaluate whether the product should continue to be developed and offered.

Contacting you about the beta

If you join the waitlist, we may contact you individually in connection with your request, including to:

  • tell you when beta access becomes available;
  • invite you to test CasePilot Returns;
  • ask whether you would like to participate in beta testing;
  • discuss how your business currently handles returns;
  • ask for feedback about CasePilot Returns; or
  • communicate with you about your participation in the beta.

Joining the beta waitlist does not automatically subscribe you to a general advertising or promotional mailing list.

We will not use your waitlist registration, by itself, to send unrelated promotional campaigns or third-party marketing.

If we introduce newsletters or other promotional communications in the future, we will obtain any consent required by applicable law separately.

4. Legal basis for processing

Under the GDPR, we must have a legal basis for processing personal data.

Beta registration and beta-related communications

Where you voluntarily request beta access or join the beta waitlist, we process the information necessary to respond to your request and manage the potential beta relationship in accordance with Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, where processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a potential service relationship.

Evaluating demand for CasePilot Returns

We may use waitlist information to evaluate interest in the CasePilot Returns concept on the basis of our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Our legitimate interest is understanding whether there is sufficient demand for CasePilot Returns and making informed decisions about the development of the product.

Where possible, evaluations and statistics may be performed using aggregated information rather than information identifying a particular individual.

Website operation and security

Technical information may be processed where necessary for the legitimate interests of operating, protecting, troubleshooting, and securing the website.

5. Is providing your information mandatory?

No.

Joining the CasePilot Returns beta waitlist is completely voluntary.

However, if you do not provide the information required by the waitlist form, we will not be able to register your request or contact you regarding beta access.

6. Marketing communications

The CasePilot Returns beta waitlist is not currently intended to operate as a general marketing mailing list.

Your beta registration may be used to contact you about the beta, your request for access, product testing, research, or feedback related to CasePilot Returns.

If in the future we wish to use your email address for separate promotional newsletters, advertising campaigns, offers, or other direct-marketing purposes requiring consent, we will request that consent separately where required by applicable law.

You may also ask us at any time not to contact you further.

7. How long do we keep your information?

Personal data submitted through the beta waitlist will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to operate and evaluate the beta program.

Unless a continuing relationship is established with you, waitlist personal data will normally be deleted or anonymized no later than 24 months after your registration.

We may delete information sooner if:

  • the beta project is discontinued;
  • the information is no longer necessary;
  • you request deletion and there is no overriding legal reason requiring us to retain it; or
  • you object to processing where applicable.

If you become a beta tester, customer, collaborator, or otherwise establish an ongoing relationship with CasePilot Returns, information relevant to that relationship may be retained for a different period and, where appropriate, additional privacy information will be provided.

Anonymous or aggregated statistics that no longer identify you may be retained for longer because they are no longer personal data.

8. Who may process your information?

We do not sell your personal data.

We use third-party service providers when necessary to operate the website and beta waitlist.

The CasePilot Returns website is currently hosted using Shopify. Shopify may process personal data and technical information on our behalf in connection with providing its platform and website services.

Information submitted through the beta waitlist form is sent to and stored by the CasePilot Returns application, which runs on Gadget (gadget.dev). Gadget processes that information on our behalf as the hosting provider of the application.

Depending on the technical operation of the website, information may also be processed by infrastructure, communications, hosting, security, or other technology providers that are necessary to operate the service.

Service providers acting on our behalf are permitted to process personal information only as necessary to provide their services and subject to applicable data-protection requirements.

Personal data may also be disclosed where required by law, regulation, court order, or a lawful request from a competent public authority.

9. International transfers

Some technology providers used to operate the website and beta waitlist may process personal data outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”).

Shopify and Gadget operate internationally and may transfer personal data between their affiliates and service providers in other countries.

Where GDPR applies and personal data is transferred outside the EEA, such transfers must be protected using an appropriate legal mechanism, such as:

  • a European Commission adequacy decision;
  • Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission;
  • Binding Corporate Rules; or
  • another lawful transfer mechanism available under applicable data-protection law.

Each provider gives further information about its international data transfers and safeguards in its own privacy and data-processing documentation.

10. Your rights

Subject to the conditions established by applicable data-protection law, you may have the right to:

  • obtain confirmation as to whether we process personal data about you;
  • request access to your personal data;
  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • request deletion of your personal data;
  • request restriction of processing;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests;
  • request data portability where applicable; and
  • withdraw consent at any time where a particular processing activity is based on consent.

Exercising these rights will not normally involve any charge.

To exercise your rights, contact:

marcalzapiedi@gmail.com

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

11. Right to object

Where personal information is processed on the basis of legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, you have the right to object to that processing in accordance with Article 21 GDPR.

If you no longer want CasePilot Returns to retain your beta-waitlist information or contact you about the beta, you can email us and request removal from the waitlist.

12. Right to lodge a complaint

If you believe that your personal data has been processed in violation of applicable data-protection law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.

In Italy, the supervisory authority is:

Garante per la protezione dei dati personali

You may find information about exercising your rights and submitting a complaint on the Garante's official website.

You may also contact us first at marcalzapiedi@gmail.com, and we will attempt to address your concern.

13. Automated decision-making

We do not currently use personal information submitted through the beta waitlist to make decisions about you using solely automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

14. Sale of personal information

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information submitted through the CasePilot Returns beta waitlist.

15. Children

CasePilot Returns is a business software product intended for Shopify merchants, businesses, and professionals.

The beta waitlist is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children through the waitlist.

16. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

However, no internet-based service or electronic storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

17. Cookies and similar technologies

The CasePilot Returns website may use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the operation, security, and functionality of the website.

If analytics, advertising, profiling, or other non-essential tracking technologies are introduced, they will be handled in accordance with applicable cookie and data-protection requirements, including obtaining consent where required.

18. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when CasePilot Returns develops, when the way personal data is processed changes, or when legal requirements change.

When we make changes, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised.

Material changes affecting how previously collected personal information is used will be handled in accordance with applicable law.
